About the Job

You will have a chance to work with some of the most intellectually curious young minds and have the chance to inspire them through stimulating and creative lessons in small classes of up to 12 students.

You will collaborate closely at both the subject and departmental levels, working on curriculum planning, specification delivery, and broader initiatives. Your role will involve teaching Economics to students aged 14-18.

As a member of our Human and Social Sciences Department, you will collaborate with experienced professionals who value teamwork and the interdisciplinary nature of social sciences. Our commitment to student-cantered approach fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which prepares students for academic success and lifelong learning. The department consistently achieves outstanding results in external exams at both IGCSE and A Level. In recent years, our students have been awarded Pearson Learner Awards in categories such as the Highest Mark in the world in the International A Level in Economics and the highest mark in Poland in the International GCSE in History and Geography. Many of our students go on to study at prestigious universities, such as LSE (Economics, Law), University of Cambridge (Economics, HSPS, Geography), LSE (Mathematics), MIT, Yale University. Many receive scholarships to continue their studies at top universities worldwide.

You will be joining a dedicated team of enthusiastic teachers, who regularly collaborate and share resources and strategies for engaging our students. We offer frequent CPD workshops and departmental meetings; we also embrace diverse teaching styles and actively support peer-to-peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback Beyond academic successes, and professional collaboration, our department nurtures a strong sense of community, and we occasionally spend time together outside of school to strengthen team spirit.

The full-time teaching commitment is 20 hours of instruction per week with generous time allowances built into the timetable to facilitate effective preparation, marking, and report writing. Teachers are expected to either be involved in pastoral care (tutoring of a small group) or supporting student clubs and co-curricular activities. 

Staff benefits include 12 weeks paid holiday, access to private health insurance and mental health package, subsidised lunches, professional development scheme and further qualification support. Extracurricular activities, such as afternoon clubs, supervision of Personal Development Projects and trips are paid additionally in line with the school’s extracurricular points system. Educational Qualifications

● A Bachelor’s degree or higher in in Economics or a related field.

Experience

● Teaching experience specifically in A Levels or International Baccalaureate

● Thorough knowledge of the subject curricula

● Involvement in extra-curricular activities: professional, amateur, or voluntary

● Experience managing and leading groups of students/young people

● High level of IT literacy

Our commitment to a student-centred approach fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which prepares students for academic success and lifelong learning. Mathematics department is dynamic, offering frequent CPD workshops and departmental meetings; we also embrace diverse teaching styles and actively support peer-to-peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback. We follow the Pearson International GCSE and A Level curricula, and in Y11 we also teach GCSE Statistics and a pre-A Level programme, which is designed by our team, to ensure our students are thoroughly prepared for A Level. As the school’s largest department, we consistently achieve outstanding results. In 2023, our student earned the Highest Mark in the world in the International A Level in Mathematics, and in 2024 another achieved a perfect 200/200 on the iGCSE. The Learning Support Teacher will implement and provide SEN students with educational support under the supervision of the Head of Learning Support.  

As a Learning Support Teacher, you will be providing individual or small group support to students with learning differences and collaborate closely with teachers, modeling inclusive practices and effective research-based strategies ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to students with learning difficulties or special educational needs (SEN). 
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement strategies for accommodating diverse learning needs within the classroom. 
• Conduct assessments to identify students' specific learning needs and develop personalized learning plans. 
• Develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to each student's individual needs and academic goals, including accommodations for exams and coursework. 
• Collaborate with the exam centre to ensure that students with SEN receive the appropriate access arrangements to demonstrate their knowledge and abilities. 
• Deliver targeted interventions and support sessions focused on building essential academic skills, such as literacy, numeracy, study skills, and exam preparation strategies. 
• Adapt teaching materials and resources to suit the learning styles and abilities of individual students. 
• Monitor and track the academic progress of students with SEN, providing ongoing feedback and adjustments to support strategies as necessary to ensure academic success. 
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on their child's progress, discuss strategies for support at home, and collaborate on goal-setting. 
• Work closely with other members of the school's support team, including special educational needs coordinator (SENCOs) and the Wellbeing team to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN. 
• Keep up-to-date with best practices in the field of special education and attend relevant professional development opportunities. 
• Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress, and interventions in accordance with school policies and procedures. 
• Advocate for the needs of students with SEN within the school community and participate in meetings or committees related to inclusion and diversity. 
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected and empowered to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally, regardless of their individual learning needs. 

Qualifications / Requirements  

• Teaching certification from an accredited institution and minimum two years of experience in the given field. 
• University degree in learning support and/or special education needs 
• Preferred knowledge and experience working in the British curriculum 
• Preferred experience in teaching at a secondary level 
• Fluency in English  
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
