Alumni Reflections

Consistency and a rigorous work ethic were the two most essential skills that have stuck with me thanks to Akademeia. Having the opportunity to build those habits, when the academic pressure of high school was just enough to allow their gradual development but not to overwhelm, was instrumental in shaping my current experience of university. Now I'm able to fully immerse myself in demanding content offered in my courses and enjoy intellectual exploration, already equipped with all the qualities that make academic growth an exciting and stimulating journey.

Jagoda Szubert, Class of 2024

My time at Akademeia taught me to always pursue what I love doing. When initially treading on a path unsuited to myself, fearing the idea of taking a non-traditional degree at university, my teachers encouraged me to be myself and take on the challenge of pursuing filmmaking. After completing my degree, I find myself just where I always should have been - I’m grateful to have attended a high school which showed me that I can only be my best self by staying true to my passions.

Olgierd Boguslawski, Class of 2022

One of the most significant lessons I learned at Akademeia was the importance of community in the pursuit of academic and personal growth. Akademeia was the first place where I truly felt driven by not just my own curiosity and ambitions, but also by the interdisciplinary opportunities created by bringing together people passionate about pursuing very diverse paths and interests. This approach has played a big role in how I go about my career and life, and I’m grateful to Akademeia for helping shape this mindset.

Reunions

In December 2024, we joyfully welcomed back our alumni for a vibrant two-day reunion, with special excitement around the return of the Class of 2024 after their first university term.

The festivities began with the SAT (Students, Alumni, Teachers) Volleyball Tournament. The energy was high as the teachers defeated the students in the first match, and the alumni triumphed in the second. The gold medal match between the teachers and alumni ended in a thrilling 1-1 draw in sets, with the teachers narrowly clinching the win by just 2 points.

Day two brought over 50 alumni from various years back to campus for a heartwarming dinner. The evening was filled with laughter, stories of life beyond Akademeia, and nostalgic moments as they flipped through yearbooks and reconnected with old friends and familiar faces. It was a true celebration of community, memories, and the enduring bond with their alma mater.

In May 2025, our Headmaster Dr Watras and Deputy Head Academic Dr Borzym‑Grzesik had the immense pleasure of reconnecting with Akademeia alumni in both London and Cambridge. They met with Ewelina, Gabriela, Jan, Kuba, Jeremiasz, Olo, Konstanty and Mateusz in London, as well as Sofiia, Weronika and Matthew in Cambridge. These reunions were more than just catch-ups—they were celebrations of growth, resilience, and ambition.

From graduates stepping into competitive careers, like Ewelina (Class of 2022) joining BNP Paribas after PPE at UCL, to future leaders in medicine like Gabriela (Class of 2022) making waves at the Polish Medical Association in the UK—our students continue to inspire.

These moments remind us that Akademeia is not just a school—it’s a lifelong community.
